Life So Far

I'm so studious :)
Ok, first of all let's all just agree that I am obviously a horrible blogger because I don't update this as much as I should. Haha. But to be totally honest, I'm just trying to get adjusted to my new life here in Spain. As you know we moved into our flat on Saturday. I like our room, it's pretty adorable if I do say so myself and our roommates are all pretty cool. There are 10 of us, 2 girls from China, 1 girl from Barcelona, 4 girls from Mexico, 1 boy from Mexico, and Daniella and I. They are all really nice and willing to speak Spanglish to me to help me improve! Even though I've only been here a little over a week, I know my Spanish has improved already because I've been immersed in it and I'm picking up little cultural sayings as well as understanding the lisp that the Spaniards have. Our little town is about an hour outside of Madrid, it's called Villaviciosa de Odon. It's definitely a lot more quite than Madrid, but it has the essentials and there are A LOT of students all around us! Which is really nice.
My classes so far haven't been so bad, of course it's only the first week, but still. This particular university is centered around international students so mostly everyone speaks English but I'm really trying to shy away from defaulting back to that. As far as classes go, I have a Ethics, Literature, Culture, and Teaching Languages. I've been to all but the teaching course so far and the only one I'm really worried about is the Ethics class, it was kind of a last minute choice for classes to fill a spot and the teacher gets straight to the point without stopping! But my classes are fairly small, which is nice, and my professors seem really understanding of our different backgrounds. So far my biggest class has 10 people in it, and in one of my classes, it's just 4 American girls, including me, which is pretty cool. And the boys here all dress SO nicely and are pretty darn cute :) So far all the ones that I've met have been VERY gentlemanly, now if only I could get one of them to wear a bow-tie or listen to country music, then I'd be set! Haha.
Like all of you said, life away from home is getting easier. I've been able to Skype most of my friends at least once since moving in and I get to talk to my family more and more! It's really nice! I have my phone with me, so I've downloaded a new text app that allows me to text people in the states for free and I also have Hey-Tell, which is like a walkie-talkie app that I can use. I can use them when I have wi-fi, which is all the time in my flat and on campus, so I can stay in touch more! Yay!
Anywho, I will update you more as my adventure continues. I love you guys!
