A Weekend in Milan

Goofing off in Milan
Daniella, Efrian, and I went to Milan for a weekend just to go. Efra said that is was THE place go shopping so I was ALL for that! I got some goodies for the family back home and explored around the town. Efrain studied there last summer so he knew all of the cool places to go to it was like we had our own tour guide.

In front of Duomo
I didn't learn too much from Milan about Italy that I didn't learn from Rome but it was really cool to have a different perspective. I was in Italy this time as a student traveling with other students and we got to see everything in a different way. While we were exploring around we saw the castle in Milan, and the most beautiful church I've ever seen, called Duomo, as well as the awesome shopping areas.

Clubbing in Milan
Our International Lunch
When we went out in Milan it was definitely an experience! We got to go clubbing with the REAL Italians, not like what we see on Jersey Shore, we were with the real Italians dancing real Italian dances...which surprisingly included fist pumping. Haha. It was pretty cool, we got to dance the night away in a new country! I felt like I was at home with my friends when we go downtown. Also we got to know some of Efrain's friends from Russia and it was really cool! We had a very international lunch, there was a Russian, an Italian, a Columbian, a Mexican, and then me. We had so much fun talking about our different cultures and governments and everything that's different between our lives. I've definitely come to learn, being here in Europe, that the entire world is a hell of a lot smarter than the US. For example at parties in the US the topics that people tend to stick to are gossip from the past week, how drunk the people currently are, and who they hooked up with; definitely stimulating conversation. But here everyone talks about government, war, culture, political issues, etc, and I'm learning SO much more about other worlds and cultures than I thought I ever would. I respect other cultures so much more now because we really aren't as great as we think we are, we aren't as smart as we think we are. I definitely came to that realization when we were having our "international lunch" in Milan.
