Toledo is GORGEOUS
Hernán and I took a trip to Toledo this past weekend, it is one of the most historical cities in Spain and lucky for us it just so happens to be a 30 minute train ride away. This was both of our first train rides of our lives, I was really excited but it wasn’t too crazy, I was actually really relaxed. My first impression of Toledo was that it was beautiful but we were going to try to walk the entire city in one day and I was nervous; once again I only brought my Jack Rogers sandals to wear. (I really need to stop bringing those, but they’re so darn cute!) When we first got to Toledo we went to our hostal to leave our bags and then to eat; we got there around 9 on Friday night. We walked into the city to find something to eat, this included lots and lots of stairs and hills, I felt like I was back at App.

Once we found a place to eat, we found a map of the city and it looked HUGE but we decided we would explore all day on Saturday and see as much as we could. We really wanted to see the old torture chambers and tools they used centuries ago. (For some reason we were both really excited about all of that negative stuff, weird…I know)
So Saturday we walked the entire city, after talking to a local gentleman we found out that the map we had was really zoomed in and made the city look A LOT larger than it actually was, needless to say we made it around the entire city in a day. While we were off in the city we stopped for lunch and I got to try a traditional Spanish dish, paella. Paella is made up of yellow rice and peppers and then whatever meat you want to put in it. The paella we had was seafood; it had shrimp, crab, oysters, and clams in it. I didn’t think I would like any of those but I actually really did; I guess that means I get to start eating Papaw’s oyster dressing at Thanksgiving. Haha.

At Alcazar

At the Cathedral
While we were out we saw the Alcazar (military museum) the Cathedral of Toledo, several monumental bridges, the Jewish community, and the torture museum. We saw a lot of other monuments but I can’t remember the names of all of them. The torture museum was interesting at first and then it just got weird, people are cruel and strange; I was freaked out by some of the things we saw. Even though the museum was quite weird, I got a lot out of it. I actually got a lot out of all of Toledo, the city was originally a Roman city and you can see in parts of the city where they started tearing up the road, where the older roads from the Roman times used to be. The detail that went into the construction of each building was incredible; sometimes we just sat and stared at the buildings for minutes at a time.

BEAUTIFUL VIEW
On top of being a very historical city, Toledo was a very romantic city. There were couples everywhere, hugging, kissing, holding on to one another, and just enjoying each other; Hernán and I definitely joined in on this. We love just being with one another, and our friendship is hilarious, I think I will miss just being able to be myself; goofy and happy when I have to leave him. I didn’t expect any of this to happen while I was in Spain, actually I had planned on not meeting any boys but things have definitely changed.
